Our Commitment to Quality Ingredients

Our Commitment to Quality Ingredients

We use cotton grown on land that has never been treated with pesticides or chemical fertilizers, with every step—from tilling the soil to cultivation and harvesting—performed entirely by hand. We then use a traditional Japanese spinning machine (commonly known as a “gara-bō”) to spin yarn that closely resembles hand-spun yarn. Because the yarn is hollow, it offers excellent thermal insulation and absorbs water effectively.

About Indigo Dyeing

About Indigo Dyeing

We create a dye bath by re-fermenting “sumi” (a raw material made by fermenting indigo leaves into a compost-like substance) using only lye made from hardwood ash and water, and dye the fabric using the traditional Japanese indigo dyeing method (Shō-ai-zome). Traditional Japanese indigo dyeing, which has been passed down continuously since ancient times, is characterized by its antibacterial, insect-repellent, and far-infrared properties; furthermore, when performed by skilled artisans, the fabric does not fade or bleed.

Excellent UV protection without any processing

Excellent UV protection without any processing

Unlike machine-spun yarn, hand-spun yarn retains the texture of the raw wool fibers. This is why it offers a UV protection rate of 85–95% or higher. Furthermore, since it is unprocessed, its UV-protective properties remain effective even after washing. The synergistic effect of the material and natural indigo dyeing makes this a garment that protects your skin.
